Cheap holidays to New York: there is a way

December 25, 2009 by

For cheap holidays to New York do not expect to stay in the Ritz Carlson or the Hilton. You can stay relatively inexpensively in New York City just not like the stars do.

A hostel is more like a dormitory than a hotel. You will have to share a sleeping room, bathroom and lounge area, but the biggest advantages are that you will have a chance to meet people from different parts of the world and it is really cheap.

For $17.00 a night you can stay at the Jazz on the Villa. It is located at 12 W 129th Street. There is a plasma TV in the lounge and a full equipped kitchen you can use while staying there.

For $20 and up a night there is the Continental Hostel on 330 W 95th Street. At this hostel there is a 2500 sq foot lounge area with ping pong tables, foosball and computer kiosks for your needs in reaching the internet and other computing needs along with the entire hostel being covered with Wi-Fi. . There is even an outdoor garden to enjoy while staying here. There is dormitory style bedding rooms along with private rooms to rent. There is ATM and vending machines on site plus arrangement can be made to get you to the airport if necessary.

The Broadway hostel offers a place to crash for $20 and up. They are located at 230 W 101 Street on Broadway. Times Square is just 15 minutes away from this clean and safe place to stay. The rooms accommodate 4, 6, and 8 beds. There are free linens, towels and blankets to guests.

There is not much privacy while staying at a hostel but for cheap holidays to New York the point is to be there and met people.

If there’s one market where Twitter is pummeling Facebook, it’s Japan. Unique users are up to 7.52 million compared to Facebook’s 1.4 million, Nielsen Online Japan told The New York Times. Even third-party Twitter developers are seeing some of the action; HootSuite’s chief executive Ryan Holmes told us that roughly 30 percent of his service’s month-over-month growth is coming from Japan. Hence, it made sense for the microblogging network to secure a mobile deal to further ingrain its presence into everyday life the way that rival social network Facebook has with U.S. mobile carriers. The company has partnered with domestic wireless carrier Softbank to create a line of handsets that link to the service. Fourteen of Softbank’s upcoming phones will be Twitter compatible and offer an icon directly on the homescreen that connects directly to a Twitter site. Part of Twitter’s success in Japan has to do with the fact that the 140-character limit isn’t so restricting in the language since…

By Harinder Singh Countering overt acts of terror can sometimes be so simple. The alacrity with which the explosive-laden Nissan Pathfinder SUV was detected and defused during the failed bombing attempt of May 1, 2010 in New York’s Times Square is a demonstration in this regard. It took the New York police precisely fifteen minutes from the time Duane Jackson and Lance Orton – two street peddlers – raised an alarm till the area was rendered safe. In the follow up investigation, detectives…

I'd love to be there sometime on New Year's eve. Why not more world wide coverage of the New Year's peach coming to earth in Atlanta?

Hey there. I live in New York City, and I have to admit, there are various cool places. Even at night, the city is lighted. But then again, there is a difference between New York and New York City–when you talk about New York, you're talking about the state, a rather wide expanse of land, so there's bound to be many places to visit. Same goes for New York City, but more so for New York, because New York City is located in New York (State).

Hope that helped clarify things a bit. ^.^
