Hair Highlights Guide

Hair highlights will positively influence the aspect of your hair especially if you want to keep its appearance more natural. The advantage that hair highlights offer is that they bring out the haircut and the style you have adopted. Instead of allowing yourself to appear as traditional and without much sophistication, adopting hair highlights will definitely improve your hair condition and will add more intensity and dimension to your hair. The majority of those who don’t approve of unique hairstyles think of hair highlights as being one and the same thing with coloring their hair. Yet coloring one’s hair is actually differently perceived by those who work in the branch as coloring the entire hair while hair highlights refers only to color strands of hair. People usually prefer these highlights to be brighter rather than darker than their natural hair color so that they would be in the spot light. Hair highlights also add a bit of sophistication to their style without actually requiring significant time or effort in the morning in order to give it a shape.
There are multiple ways to create and enjoy hair highlights. Four are mostly used and these are foil highlighting, painting, low-lighting and chinking. The first procedure involves using foil as the name suggests. It is meant to separate the strands that are to turn lighter in shade from the others that will persist natural in color. The hair highlights are obtained by applying lightener onto the strand with a brush-like too and then wrapping the strand into the foil designed for it.
The second procedure of getting hair high lights relies on using a brush or a comb to add the color with a brush onto the strands of hair. This second process is widely used at home as it is more convenient and easier than the others. The third method, low lighting is very much like highlighting. The only difference is that the result consists in darker colors used on the hair. This is usually preferred by light-haired people and therefore would like to get rid of too much brightness. It is somehow the opposite of getting light hair highlights. And last but not least, we have chunking which implies that you color your hair in chunks of different sizes. Hair highlights are popular today following the example given by movie or music stars. Hair highlights can be done at home or in a salon by a hair stylist. The only difficulty today would be the lighteners that are used. In the past people used mineral substances and colors, today most extracts used in obtaining hair highlights are chemical based and therefore may do more harm than good to your hair. Choices should be made after learning details on the hair highlights peculiarities.

I have the same kind of problem … my hair colour is getting darker as I get older, and I have that whole “not-curly-not-wavy-but-unevenly-bumpy” thing going on. I have to say though, that after a few years of straightening my hair every few days, my hair is starting to grow straighter (my hair stylist told me that would happen).
