Make Camp Cooking Interesting and Festive

What do you like to do on family holidays? Go to the beach or spend a week in the country? Maybe you like camping or visiting relatives. Whatever you enjoy, family holidays are a chance for everyone in the family to get reacquainted and spend quality time together. It’s a chance for parents to really talk with their teens and find out what’s going on in their lives. It’s important to keep the communication lines open, and a camping holiday is an especially good time to do that. After all, where else can they go? The key to a successful camping trip is planning. Check your list for list for camping.

Your kids, and you, will be happier on camping holiday if they have snacks, drinks, and entertainment. Few kids enjoy a long ride in the car! Try to provide individual CD players or hand-held video games, and don’t forget to take plenty of bathroom stops. Sometimes kids enjoy the ride more if they can help you follow the map. This is an educational activity for them as well. Once you get to your camping spot make meal times interesting and festive. Make sure there is coleman stove on your list. Everybody will thank you for it.

Did you pack a couple frozen steaks in the cooler? Do not cook meat on a grill while it is still frozen, or even partially frozen. Thaw your meat by sitting it out several hours if need be before you plan on cooking it. If your meat has been thawed in a refrigerator, set it out long enough for the meat to get to room temperature. Poking holes in meat

while it is cooking will cause the juice inside to leak out into the bottom of the grill. Not only will this make your food dry and unappealing, but it also could clog the orifice on your gas grill. At the very least, it will cause a buildup of unwanted grease and juices on your coleman bbq grill, which will make cleanup harder. Once meat is cooked, never put it back in on the same plate you had it on when it was raw. This could cause the spread of many unwanted illnesses. Do not handle cooked meat with the same utensils that you used when it was raw.

I remember playing with the flash cubes (the 4 sided ones, not the long bar style) and they had a mechanical firing mechanism. Pull on the little wire under the face you wanted to fire and it would pop. Never got one apart without it going off so I never did know if it was a simple flint striker or a piezeo (like gas grill lighters) element or even a coin cell!

Made a great trip-wire alarm for games of capture the flag.
