When you looking for UK breakdown cover you are better looking online because it’s a faster and you can compare most providers on one website.  Using comparison websites can be rewarding as you can find the best deals and also find more information on about the company you have mind.  Breakdown cover is basically all the same in any country, you breakdown someone comes to get you and faster they do it in the better for you.  Breakdown is like AA offer a fantastic service UK-based individuals and of course European breakdown cover.

Other companies like Green Flag also offer you European breakdown cover and so does the RAC.  You may wonder which company to actually take out your breakdown cover with and that is where comparison sites come into play so you can find out which breakdown service you would like to consider before you actually visit the company direct, it’s just like doing your research in advance.  The price of breakdown insurance can vary but from standard cover to comprehensive cover.

Standard cover

This level of cover starts from around £25 and comprehensive cover can be in up to £220.  It’s great if you need it for breakdowns and to get you home when ever you breakdown in the UK.  With any UK breakdown cover company, they will tow you up to 20 miles or so, so if you should breakdown in London and you stay somewhere in Scotland, the breakdown company will take you to the nearest garage for your car to be repaired.  For £25 standard breakdown cover is well worth it, as one breakdown could cost you over £200 with another private breakdown company.

Comprehensive breakdown cover

This level of cover basically does what it says on the tin, if you breakdown, your put up in a hotel if you cannot get home or a replacement will be giving to you if one is available, usually large breakdown companies have plenty of cars available, so not to worry.  Comprehensive cover gives you really great piece of mind, this kind of cover also ensures vehicle parts and labour costs through an approved garage of course and will cost you what so ever.  Only the AA provides this kind of cover (parts cover) because they have the volume of customers to be able to afford to repair your car.

European breakdown cover

If you travel to Europe you can take out European breakdown recovery with any of the large breakdown companies, have a look at a comparison site as they will advise you on which company can assist you with European assistance for your short and long breaks abroad.  Many people don’t even consider taking this level of cover on but I can assure you it may happen even with a brand-new car so take the cover because it is cheap enough and it will save you in hundreds of another company and our country, who knows what other companies abroad will charge.

Get UK breakdown cover it’s worth every penny.

Businesses selling daily contact lenses at cheap rates

September 26, 2009 by · 28 Comments

Do you want to order adherent lenses and cleansers via Internet at a providential price? Then you should detect tenderers of adherent lenses to get your adherent lenses delivered home inexpensively and expeditiously. If the customer is already experienced in handling contact lenses and knows what style of lenses fits their individual requirements best, then they should order their contact lenses and accessories conveniently at one of my favorite German providers Internet stores.

The company Lensbest has been active in the market since 1995 as a distance seller of adherent lenses and belongs to the longest active firms in this branch of trade. The association of German mailorder companies has awarded the online shop of Lensbest as “Best Internet Store 2006″. Having said that the Lenscatcher Ltd. provides an exquisite Internet store for adherent lenses and lens cleaning supplies and is one of the leading online suppliers in Europe, too. This recommendable online mail order company gives a huge cost advantage to their purchasers.

Buying adherent lenses on the Internet is recommendable for persons, who already have gathered experience with contact lenses, know their data and the optimal style of lenses for themselves and actually do not need additional personal advice from an optician. If the patient has collected enough experience and also has the exact parameters of the contact lenses on hand, a replacement order at an online store is really convenient. Customers may read a German report of Lensbest and Lenscatcher on the following Internet page: http://www.tages-linsen.net/weiche_Tageslinsen.html. The choice between dimensionally stable and soft lenses should be made according to the individual requirements of the customer. Thereby should be taken into consideration, e.g. the frequency and duration of wearing, the surroundings and any tendency to dry eyes. If one likes to take exercise outdoors, where increased dust or dirt can occur, such as track and field athletics or soccer on the hard court, going on horseback or mountain biking, the wearer should tend to soft day-lenses that are littered after singular use.

The company Lensbest is one of Europes largest mail order houses of adherent lenses and offer their buyers a cost-free helpdesk around the clock as well as expert consultancy by an optician and a trained team. The delivery of ordered adherent lenses is often made after 2 working days. At the Internet store of Lensbest the patient will get adherent lenses, cleaning products and accessories. Besides the brand Lenscare the customer could also obtain other popular brands, such as Bausch & Lomb and Ciba Vision. A corneal irregularity or astigmatism can be corrected with the so-called toric lens. In this case the vendee also must know the precise complementary data for cylinder and axis. Furthermore, there are cosmetic contact lenses offered in several colors which allow the wearer shifting the color of their eyes.

Crucial for ordering at one of these online providers is to provide the precise data of the own contact lenses, that means for example the size of the lenses in diopter, the moisture content, concavity and aperture. When having a corneal irregularity, the patient needs to know the concerning additional data. If the patient is not well-versed with contact lenses the patient must first ask an oculist and optician. Inherently stable and hard adherent lenses are particularly oxygen penetrable and swim on the tears film of the eye, which then is better served with oxygen and nutrients than it was when wearing soft lenses. Therefore they are appropriate for dry air and air-conditioned rooms.

Prostate Cancer

September 20, 2009 by · 33 Comments

In recent years, many men who suffer from cancer of the prostate have chosen to go with a different method of treatment – holding their breaths.

Men with tumours that are small that develop steadily over time often go for frequent check-ups and then only if the disease deteriorates do they start treatment – this is also known as: “active surveillance” or “watchful waiting”.

A multitude studies are being performed world wide that focus on this process known as watchful waiting. The studies have been developed to provide men with added distinct answers when it comes to ascertaining the pros and cons between the pressure of living with Prostate Cancer and the well-renowned side effects of surgery and radiation.

Due to the screening of more men and as a result, more low-risk cancers are being detected, the alternative of watchful waiting is becoming ever more accepted amongst those who are diagnosed with the illness.

Over 50% of all men will have cancer cells in their prostate by the time they turn eighty, and most of which will not have been diagnosed. However, only a small portion (around 3%) will pass away from cancer of the prostate.

Prostate tumours are mainly small and slow-growing and the majority of the men who develop them will die due to something else.

Roughly 60% of all men that are diagnosed with prostate cancer are potential candidates for active surveillance if they opt for this choice of ‘treatment’.

A large amount of pharmacology studies being conducted (including the clinical data management) that are focussed at establishing an actual cure for the disease, one of which was carried out recently at one of Europe’s leading CROs. The main aim of the study (drug trials) was to determine the effects the body had on the study drug. This was a new drug developed with the anticipation that it would have fewer side effects than the treatments currently available on the market. The study drug is not available by prescription or as an over-the-counter medication but is currently under research in other clinical trials. The outcome of this research study is yet to be established.

Insurances, savings tips

Everyone know’s not to accept the renewal price from your insurance company on your Home and Car Insurance policies. After mortgages, this is the best area to reduce your outgoings by finding other providers. According to the Daily Mail, the average quote of £629 for car insurance falls to £415 if you shop around, while home insurance cover tumbles from £368 to £227. It is incredibly eay to find quotes on the internet, and if you don’t spend at least one lunch hour a year finding a better deal then you obviously have money to burn.

1. Claim back payment protection insurance
Overpriced and oversold, Loan protection insurance is one of the most profitable types of insurance ever devised by the finance industry. It can add £3,000 to the cost of a £7,500 Personal loan. But many people were sold it who can’t possibly make a claim against it This money is now eligible to be claimed back.

Lots of claims companies advertise on daytime television, promising to obtain you a refund but they will take 25% of whatever you win. Instead, try the freetouse Financial Ombudsman Service on average they are helping 80% of those missold . Helpfully, it offers a factsheet on how to make a complaint about PPI which you can find at financialombudsman.org.uk

2. Cancel your mobile phone insurance
Many people are strongly pressured in phone shops into spending between £50 and £70 a year on this cover. Most policies don’t cover you for the most dangerous type of risk airtime abuse (if the phone is used to ring abroad), and you can claim for a lost phone on you contents cover.

Just ring your bank, stop the direct debit and job done!.

3. Rethink your life insurance
Life insurance is not for life. Just because the life cover was sold to you when you took out a mortgage you don’t need to to stick with that provider for the life of the remortgage. You can cancel it at any time to get a cheaper deal. With the human lifetime improving (ie. fewer people dying), the insurers have been lowering the cost of life insurance for many years.

If you are in a job at a big employer, it is likely to offer “death in service” benefit worth at least three times your yearly salary, and often much more. Do you really need all that life insurance cover on top as well?

4. Don’t pay for travel insurance you don’t need
Step 1 Obtain a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) from ehic.org.uk or at your local Post Office. This has replaced the old E111 forms and gives you reducedcost or free medical treatment in EU countries and Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. You may even obtain treatment faster, as you won’t have to rely on a hospital waiting to receive authorisation to treat you from an insurer.

Step 2 Check your home insurance policy. Many have clauses which already cover personal belongings (ie. your suitcase) outside the home.

Step 3 Check your health cover policy, if you have one. These usually pay treatment costs incurred abroad. If traveling to Europe, the only real benefit that travel cover brings is cancellation cover. Can you justify paying the premiums?.

For those who travel outside the EU, travel insurance is a must, though. If you go away more than once a year it is best to take a annual policy make sure you are only paying for what you actually need. For example, if you don’t ski or snowboard, you don’t need cover for winter sports.

English History 1660 to 1760

July 11, 2009 by · 32 Comments

Charles II had a liking to have many mistresses, this resulted in his many illegitimate children, and a lot of these received dukedoms which have survivors till today.

Soon two of the worst disasters struck England, first the plague of 1665 and then the greatest fire of London in the next year.

After these happenings, as Charles had no legitimate heir his Catholic brother James II succeeded him in 1685. Even James rule also proved to be a bad one for England by suspending anti Catholic Laws and arresting the Bishops and eventually his second wife gave him his successor.

Anne protestant daughter of James II got the throne in 1702. The best thing happening in that era was her childhood friend Sarah marrying John Churchill, a brilliant general who led the English army on to the French and capturing 600 miles across Europe. The battle of Blenheim in 1704 ended French dominance in Europe.

Churchill was paid handsomely for this by becoming the Duke of Marlborough and Blenheim Palace was also awarded to him. A few years later Anne and Sarah had a fight with each other diminishing their influence on stately affairs.

Many people were supposed to have the throne but all being Catholics were sidelined and the throne went to George I, a German who knew nothing about speaking in English –not even a word but was a Protestant. So started a rule of the House of Hanover, under which Britain gained peace with wealth in the next century. George was immediately challenged by James II’s son “James the Pretender, reaching Scotland and to claim England’s throne, but was pushed back and ran to exile in France.

Can You Make Money with Home Based Businesses?

June 1, 2009 by · 34 Comments

The answer to this question is a definite YES! I have lots of business associates in the USA, Europe, Australasia and New Zealand who are working in a home based business and making thousands of dollars each week. In fact the lady who introduced me to my home based business is only 25 years of age and she made over $500,000 in her first 12 months of her business.

I am now replicating her results, but please read on and you will learn about what I have achieved and experienced in 3 very different situations and how in the end I succeeded in taking control of my future.

My Traditional Business Experience

I used to own and manage a very profitable and high-profile restaurant and bar in Brisbane, Australia for a period of over 12 years. I started it from scratch and like most traditional businesses it was really expensive to set up and the running costs were huge.

Although I made a lot of money with this business, I finally decided to offload it when I came to realise that the long hours and constant stress of managing over 30 employees, dealing with various government requirements, endless paper work and hundreds of customers per week was ruining destroying my life.

You can become very wealthy with a traditional business but you will need to be extremely committed as you won’t be able to walk out and close the door anytime you want.

There will be lots of work to do and deadlines to meet, customers to service and more than likely, staff to hire and manage unless you want to do all the work yourself. The hours are generally very long and in most cases the business can end up taking over your life. Another point to consider is that you’ll be on your own to work things out and solve any problems as they arise.

My Job Experience

After selling the business, I decided that a job would be a better alternative to owning a business so I set about finding one and little did I know what I was in for!

I spent 8 hours a day scouring the employment classifieds, networking, perfecting my resume and attending interviews for jobs I didn’t even want. I felt undervalued and demoralised and almost gave up hope before I finally won a job with a company as an Events Manager.

All good you might well think, but unfortunately this was not the case as now I was into something that would cost me 12 hours of my time, 5 days a week as I got dressed up for work, traveled to and from work and actually did the work. I was working under considerable pressure and was totally stressed out by having to answer to a boss and co-ordinate every single element of each event from travel and accommodation arrangements, key note speakers, entertainment and right down to sorting out what type of lettuce should go on the dinner plates of the attendees. What a nightmare! But the thing that irked me the most was that I was doing all of this to make my boss richer while I had to settle for a small pay packet at the end of each week. JOB = Just over broke.

My Home Business Experience

As you might have guessed, I didn’t stay in my job as an Event Manager for long. I had spent 7 months of my life trying to find the right career and after only 1 month I resigned.

I had no idea what to try next but I was determined to find something that would tick ALL the boxes for me and knew that I first needed to get very clear about what I really wanted.

I did not want to:

Own and manage a stressful, traditional type of business

Outlay a lot of money to get started in a new business

Answer to a boss and have to beg for time off work

I did want to

Earn a lot of money

Work from home

Take control of my future

With the above in mind, I spent the next couple of months researching my options until I was eventually attracted to an advertisement (placed by a 25 year old lady) about a home based business opportunity. I must admit that I was pretty hesitant to begin with but I decided I had nothing to lose by finding out more so I answered the ad and within 1 week I was up and running with my very own home based business.

On my best day so far, I earned five thousand dollars but what I really love about my home business most is that I actually took back control of my own life. I now work the hours I choose, from the comfort of home or anywhere I like really with my laptop and phone. I don’t have to juggle and manage staff anymore and gone is all the stress. I fit my work around my life, generally about 25 hours per week and I absolutely love what I do.

It’s not for everyone however and if you are considering getting started in a home business you should ask yourself the following important questions:

1. Is the business aligned with your income and lifestyle goals?

2. Do you have some money and time to invest into the business?

3. Can you work diligently as your own boss and without supervision?

4. Will there be anyone to help or guide you if you get stuck along the way?

Yes! You can make money with home based businesses. Lots of money!

Exquisite Brussels – Seat of the EU

May 14, 2009 by · 39 Comments

Often featured in the media as the seat of government of the European Union (EU), Brussels is much more than a city of bureaucrats. It is a meeting point all the diverse cultures in Europe, and exudes a unique multicultural energy.

Brussels is not only the home of the European Union. The Belgian capital is a lively and beautiful city in its own right, a town rich in history and full of places to see. Designated the cultural capital of Europe in 2000, Brussels is no mere town of boring bureaucrats. It has its own tale to tell.

A fortress in the middle of a river.

The name Brussels (Bruocsella) is first documented in 966. It means “chapel in a swamp”, and likely refers to its position on the Senne River. The settlement itself had probably been founded between three and four hundred years earlier. The earliest stronghold on Brussels Island dates back to around the end of the 10th century.

Central Brussels.

The story of Grand Place (in French, or Grote Markt in Dutch), the town square located at the middle of Brussels, leads us on a trip through the city’s history. Grand Place was created as a market and business square, but soon attracted the trade guilds and city administrators.

They designed magnificent guildhalls and government buildings as proof of their power and affluence, Brussels became one of Europe’s most important trading and financial centres during the High Middle Ages and would remain so until 1695, when French cannons bombed the city for three days, levelling Grand Place and reducing much of the city to soot and ashes. It was rebuilt at speed, and the guildhalls that currently stand on Grand Place bear witness to the city’s revival.

Grand Place remains a favourite meeting point for residents and tourists alike. Many of its countless restaurants, cafes and hotels are open around the clock.

Brussels city hall.

The Hotel de Ville (Brussels city hall), completed in 1450, is an architectural crown even among the grandiose guildhalls and structures around it. Its facade was one of the few structures to survive the French bombardment of 1695. With its 96-metre-tall tower topped by a golden statue of St. Michael and the dragon, the Hotel de Ville is Brussels’ most known landmark, visible from every part of the historic old city.

A different kind of city emblem.

Most tourists consider the statue called Manneken Pis (literally, “the boy peeing”) at the corner of the Rue de l’Etuve and Rue des Grands Charmes to be the symbol of Brussels. Just who the little boy in this work by sculptor Heironimus Dusquesnoy is supposed to be is an unsolved mystery. In any case, the brazen lad is certainly one of the city’s main visitor attractions. Meanwhile, his girl counterpart, the Jeanneken Pis, can be discovered at the end of a cul-de-sac called Impasse de la Fidelite just off La Grand Place. The citizens of [the city|Brussels} have always been in favour of equal rights, and if that meant commissioning a statue of a similarly cheeky little girl, so be it. The statue was dedicated in 1987.

The giant molecule.

The 102-metre-high Atomium is another symbol of Brussels. It began its existence as an exhibition hall built for the 1958 Worlds Fair. It represents a crystalline iron molecule, magnified 165 thousand million times. The tubes connecting the nine atomic particles are actually conduits containing escalators and walkways.

Due to its use of futuristic materials and interesting design, it has long been considered both an architectural wonder and an impressive piece of grand monumental sculpture.

Within, the Atomium still houses the occasional exhibition on topics related to nuclear technology, aeronautics, astronomy and meteorology. Inside the uppermost sphere is a restaurant that affords a beautiful view of the entire city.

Minerals Makeup in History

May 4, 2009 by · 30 Comments

The use of minerals can be traced back into the time of ancient Egyptians. Egyptians take pride on their appearance. For them to be close to their gods, they need to be beautiful. Their eye minerals makeup was mostly consisted of malachite, green ore of copper and kohl. Galena is also used for the eyes. This eye makeup also served as eye protectors from the hot and reflective rays of the sun in the desert. Their red lips would come from the red ochre. The same minerals are used for giving color to the cheeks. Each mineral used would come from a different place. Malachite came from the Nile valley, while galena would come from upper Egypt and the Red Sea.

Early Egyptians also believed that makeup is not only means of attaining higher spirituality; they are also used for practical reasons. Malachite and galena are both used as eye protectors. While there are others used for their ability to repel insects and help the body adapt to climate changes. Aside from this, ancient Egyptians believed that black mineral makeup can drive evil sprits away.

Ancient Greeks also used mineral makeup because they wanted to be close to the gods. In Greece, ancient women who belong in the high class rarely go out and get exposed to the sun. That is why women with pale skin are regarded highly, so they started using makeup to make the skin appear pale.

Greek women would use honey and olive oil to keep their skin moisture. Olive oil is also a part of their eye enhancement make-up along with charcoal. Lipstick are from mixture of redding and bees wax. This primitive lipstick evolved in ochre clay and red iron, making it a little bit harder and easier to apply to their lips

In the east, Chinese and Japanese were also applying makeup to their faces. Japanese geisha would paint their faces white and outline their eyebrows with charcoal. Actually, this did not happen in Asia only. In Europe, aristocrats would put powders in their faces. The idea is that this would separate them from the common, working class.

Add Some Diversity to Your Summer Travel

March 31, 2009 by · 28 Comments

I’d like to make a suggestion for a vacation destination where you can find a great deal of variety in the type of local attractions offered.  Everybody has different goals for their summer travel.  Some of us want to visit Disneyland and some just want to relax on the beach.  Others love to see historical sites and still others love to play golf.

Summer California actually offers activities in all of these categories.  There are many golf courses between the Pacific Ocean and Palm Desert.  And, of course, you’ll find plenty of beach action for sun worshipping.

Another obvious destination is the Disneyland Resort, which includes Downtown Disney and Disney’s California Adventure (by the way, Disney is spending like a billion dollars on a major renovation of California Adventure over the next several years).

If you haven’t been to Anaheim in several years, you’ll be amazed at the changes.  California Adventure exhibits the diversity of California culture, from citrus orchards to downtown Los Angeles to the northern California Wine Country.  You will observe an international blend of cultures in the visitors at the parks and at Downtown Disney.  It is a great place for people watching—a veritable cultural melting pot.

Speaking of a cultural melting pot, Southern California is a concoction of people and cultures from around the world.  There is a particularly strong presence from Pacific Rim countries, but Europe, Asia and Africa are likewise well represented (not so many folks from Antarctica).

You’ll find quite a number of ethnic communities scattered throughout Southern California, and worth a visit in your summer travel activities.  The first community that comes to mind is Chinatown, just north of the Los Angeles central business district.  Just to the east of downtown is Little Tokyo.  Koreatown lies on the west side of the 110 Freeway.

Take time out of your schedule to drive down to Orange County to visit downtown Santa Ana, portions of which will remind you of a medium-sized city in Mexico.  Nearby Little Saigon offers shopping and dining with a Vietnamese and Southeast Asia influence.  There are no-doubt many other ethnic area in the Southern California melting pot.
