There are many debates today that discuss over weather grunting is beneficial or not during working out. If you have been to a gym then you would have defiantly heard grunting from many people who are working out. These people mostly comprise of those that lift heavy weights. People claim that lifting heavy weights require a release from the tension that is built up in the body. Therefore grunting is important. Studies however show that there is only marginal increase in lifting weights while grunting when it comes to pros.
There are many exercises that are done by people to help in losing their weight in a effective manner. All the exercises are not found to be equally effective; while some are found to be very effective, others are seen to be not at all helpful in losing weight. Aerobic exercises have been found to be very effective in helping to lose weight in an effective manner at a very fast rate. Unlike other types of exercises, aerobic exercises are much fun to perform, and as a result are found to be very popular.
Major Advantages of getting in shape and Without Leaving Your Home. You can develope a great habit and Stay At Home To Do It. There are a number of advantages of aerobic exercises, which make it the best choice for people who are interested in weight loss programs. Aerobic exercises tend to be much easier to do; making it the natural choice for women, but men can also easily do these exercises. There are several other advantages which make aerobic resources the perfect choice for effective weight loss programs.
Where should you start, well the best place is with your new P90X and stay more healthier and fit with your new 10 Minute Trainer you can workout at home, in your office or any where you can plug in a DVD player and have room to workout. People tend to be very careful about their weight usually, and this is the reason why nowadays many people are found to become overweight. Once you put up a lot of weight, it becomes very difficult to lose all the extra weight and get back in shape. There is a general tendency among people to register for a weight loss program or start consuming dietary supplements, in order to lose their surplus weight. But these methods are not always effective, and usually involve a lot of side effects.
You can maintain a good healthy lifsyle only if you commit and will do a daily and regular exercise program. You can gain fitness benefits from any exercise only if you are doing it in proper ways. Jumping is one of the best exercises to maintain your body fitness.
However when dealing with amateurs grunting has resulted in as much has five percent of power output. This has resulted in two communities that are people who grunt during exercises and people who do not grunt during exercise. They each have their own theories and debates. There are many members in gyms that are known to complain about other people grunting. Grunting may not come just from the members who are lifting weights. While doing any form of exercises, when the resistance gets tough the natural reaction of many people is to grunt while continuing to do the exercise. The theory of grunters says that this provides more motivation and energy while the non grunters firmly believe that it distracts other people working out and is just a waste of energy. The battle goes on and while some gyms have a strictly no grunting policy some encourage their members to just get along with the people who grunt.
If we look at the eastern side of the world, both China and Japan that have many formidable martial arts are known to encourage grunting. It is said to circulate the flow of ki effectively and bring out more power from the body. From direct attack moves like a punch to a block all are accompanied by grunting. This is supposed to extract force form the body outside. If we look a little deeper into this, it has a little more philosophy. There are two ways to exert power from the body. These are done by the dou techniques and the sei techniques. These techniques rely from person to person and depend on what they are more comfortable with.
A person with a dou technique will use his anger to extract power from the body. This is a common form of extracting power from the body. The user of sei techniques will suppress the anger inside the body and focus all the power at one point. The energy that is released from that point is tremendous. The sei techniques heavily rely on the inner strength of the person. Both the techniques are equally effective. It has never been clearly pronounced which one is better that the other. The same can be applied to grunting and non grunting. It has not been confirmed today that grunting causes increase in performance but many people do it anyways. Many claim that it’s a physiological boost to the body that will make the body stronger and perform better.
I-20 Visas

How to study in the United States as a Foreign Student
So you want to study at a university in the United States, but you are a citizen of another country. Students from countries such as Korea, Japan, China, India, and others regularly study in the United States by obtaining a visa from a school that is authorized to issue I-20 visas. I-20 visas are what allow foreign students to study in the United States legally.
One question to consider early on is whether you wish to apply to a United States university directly from the high school in your country, or whether you wish to attend a college preparatory (high school) in the United States. A major benefit of attending college prep in the United States is that they often already have built strong relationships with the university you wish to attend. For example, the University of California system, in many cases, has already pre-approved transferrable courses at high schools accredited by WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges). Such high schools are already familiar with the admission requirements of various universities, as well.
When looking at high schools in the United States, you should make sure that their affiliations connect them with top tier universities. But more importantly, you need to make sure that the high school you are considering is authorized to issue I-20 visas to foreign students.
Becoming authorized to issue I-20 visas to foreign students is a process managed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). It requires a lengthy review of the school petitioning for approval, so be sure the school you are considering has already obtained this approval before spending much time on their application process.
Spending an extra four years at a United States private college prep school, can pay off big time when it comes to getting into top Universities.

Bonsai Offers Exotic Choices
May 7, 2009 by Janet7 · 19 Comments
Most bonsai artists are content with the more common coniferous, deciduous, or fruit trees when developing their bonsai tree collection. But, more exotic bonsai varieties can be found that permit the bonsai gardener to challenge his or her skills.
One superb alternative to the more frequent style bonsai is Wisteria, a native of Korea, Japan, and China. In the wild, Wisteria can reach 30 feet or more in size. However, since Wisteria doesn’t conform to any of the normal bonsai styles, forming them into a bonsai can be an interesting challenge.
The Wisteria flowers are both aromatic and beautiful and come in a variety of colors, including blue, purple, pink, and white. Flowering in the Spring, they need lots of water with sufficient drainage and they do well in any where from full sun to partial shade. Just before they bloom in the spring, you should provide them with a good amount of fertilizer, and once again in late summer before they drop their leaves.
Another option is Orange Jasmine which will provide a delight to the nose and beauty to the eye. Orange Jasmine bears a bright red fruit and fragrant, white blossoms.
Feed Orange Jasmine every three to four weeks starting in early spring and continuing through mid-autumn. Only light watering is adequate for most of the year, with a little more required in the hotter summer season.
Because they generally grow better in moderate shade or filtered sun, Orange Jasmine is one of the few bonsai that can, and should be grown indoors.
The Mimosa tree, also sometimes known as silk trees due to their long silky filaments, offer another good alternative. They are as fragrant as both of the two alternatives mentioned above and their puffy flowers and lacy foliage are also quite lovely.
The Mimosa’s flowers bloom in late April to early July and moderate water should be given during this period. However, you should avoid getting water on the flowers because, much like a number of other flowering plants, the flowers will quickly deteriorate when wet.
If you choose to cultivate a Mimosa, it will be one of the larger bonsai in your collection since they have large leaves, grow rapidly, and are difficult to maintain at a very small size. So be sure to give then adequate room in your display area.
Another non-traditional bonsai is the Desert Rose. The Desert Rose can turn what would be an ordinary bonsai collection into one full of color and excitement. It is a native of East Africa and in the wild can grow up to 10 feet tall, producing large, pink, trumpet-bowl flowers.
The Desert Rose should be kept outdoors most of the year as they need plenty of sunshine and lots of fresh air. With their very bushy growing habit, they will make a fine design complement to the many traditional bonsai in your collection.
However, the Desert Rose is sensitive to cold, so they should be brought indoors in cold climates or during periods of cold weather as they will not thrive in temperatures below 10C (50F). With temperatures in the 10C-15C (50F-60F) range, they will lie dormant and healthy and during this period they will need very little water.
You should try your hand at some of these exotic fragrant and beautiful flowering plants to extend your horizon and further develop your bonsai gardening skills. They provide a nice contrast when placed among some of the more standard evergreens, such as, firs, pines, and junipers. Additionally, as they lose their leaves in the fall and blossom in the spring, you’ll have an interesting ever-changing display.

Looking For Alternative Forms of Energy
April 10, 2009 by Janet7 · 35 Comments
Record high prices at American gas pumps and continued global strife in the Middle East, Russia, Nigeria, and other areas of importance to the oil-driven economy have made it clear to Americans that we are in need of developing many new avenues of alternative energy. In short, we need to reduce our dependency on oil, for it is ultimately finite and, frankly, the cheap sources of oil (not all oil—just the stuff that is cheap to remove from the earth) are running out.
Energy consultants and analysts are insistent that cheap oil has “peaked” or is very soon going to peak. What this means for us is an expensive future—unless we can find new sources of powering our mechanized and electronic civilization. In other words, we need alternative energy ideas.
We must also switch to alternative forms of energy because our present forms are too damaging to the atmosphere. While it is still debatable that the global warming trend is sustained by the activities of mankind, we certainly do contribute at present to the destruction of the environment and to things like air pollution with our energy sources as they are.
Coal is another source of energy that we need to wean ourselves off of — again, it is finite, and it is filthy, and the mining of it is dangerous and environmentally disruptive. We can also explore new streamlined methods for producing electricity that we presently generate so much of via hydro-power so that we are less disruptive of the environment when we have need of constructing things such as large dams.
Developing nations which have turned industrialized in recent decades especially will need the benefits of alternative energy research and development, for they are presently doing much more environmental damage than the United States. The United States, Japan, and some European nations have been implementing studies into and programs for the development of alternative energy sources, and are therefore already leading the way in doing less environmental damage.
Developing nations such as China and India need to look to Japan and the West as examples of what research and development to give government backing and private investment currency to. We could also add great robustness to our own economy by being at the forefront of such alternative energy sources development and then marketing the technologies and services to nations like India, China, and Brazil..
Biofuels from things like “supertrees” and soybeans, refined hydroelectric technology, natural gas, hydrogen fuel cells, the further building of atomic energy plants, the continued development of solar energy photovoltaic cells, more research into wind-harnessed power—all of these are viable energy sources that can act as alternatives to the mammoth amounts of oil and coal that we presently are so dependent on for our very lifestyles. The energy of the future is green.

The Modern Martial Art of Shinto Ryu
April 10, 2009 by Janet7 · 30 Comments
Martial Arts Disciplines: Shinto Ryu
Most of today’s popular martial arts sprang up and developed, over several centuries, originating from the thoughts and practices of visionaries who were influenced by the pervading thought and cultures of their day. These influences molded and shaped their philosophies and techniques. Nowadays, newly created disciplines and styles are continually being developed throughout the world.
Shinto Ryu is one of these modern disciplines. It is practiced under the umbrella organization of the European Marital Arts Academy. Shinto means “natures way” or “shrine” and ryu like the Japanese word – do means “the way”. In understanding its name we gain insight into the foundation of the system – developing self defense skills in a “natural way.” The basic tenet of this discipline is to never seek harm. Instead, Shinto Ryu endeavors to equip students with skills that give them the ability to avoid, diffuse and or walk away from dangerous and difficult situations. Of paramount importance is teaching practitioners defusing techniques and the confidence to use and apply these skills effectively.
Acquiring the knowledge and physical skills to be able to act effectively in times of threat and great danger helps develop the confidence necessary to handle sticky situations. An important aspect of this is body language. Our body language tells a lot about us – in fact, research has shown that many victims of crimes actually had the body language and posture of a victim prior the to crime occurring. Thus, it is quite possible to minimize the risk of becoming a victim by having a confident posture and conveying this through body language. This is evident by examining different postures used by various styles of martial arts. For instance, a relaxed upright posture with the shoulders pulled back and head and eyes aware, gives off a strong sense of awareness, confidence and strength. As one of Japan’s heroes Musashi Miyamoto once said “Perception is strong and sight is weak!”
Part of Shinto Ryu is learning once more to trust our intuition, an attribute that we have been complacent about in today’s technological and materialistic society. How many times have you felt uncomfortable about a person you have been introduced to, and sometime later this person does something to harm you in some way? Recalling your initial feelings you say to yourself “I knew I could not trust that person,” and you still allowed that situation to develop due to your failure to listen to your intuition. This art focusing on honing and becoming comfortable following our intuition.
Shinto Ryu is a modern discipline. Practical techniques are taught based on a star movement, which allows you to defend yourself from any conceivable angle, whether standing or sitting down. Reality is the key to this system of self defense. Practitioners are taught how to respond to different real world situations, such as being threatened while traveling via public transportation, in their cars, at work, on the street and many other common scenarios.
As part of its self defense strategy, Shinto Ryu teaches you how to improvise with items you are likely to have at hand- for instance using a chair or small table as a barrier, and umbrella or broom handle as a weapon. Shinto Ryu does not use too large of a variety of martial arts equipment for training. Shinto Ryu practicioners train in a uniform that looks like the standard karate uniform commonly worn today. Weapons training is narrowed down to the use of a shinai (bamboo stick). The shinai has been incorporated for practicality’s sake, not in the same way as in the art of kendo. It is used to replicate a potential weapon, such as a piece of wood, iron bar or pole that potentially may be at hand in normal everyday environments, so that the practitioner can learn to strike and defend effectively with a weapon that may be easily found.
