Glad to have helped out, the Web Hosting scene is certainly a confusing thing to look at. Who has the best deals, who is a bigger name, who provides what services and installations and most of all price, they are all considerations that one needs to make when looking at a web host.
That said, usual buyer beware and asking questions is definitely the best first step, if it looks to good to be true it usually is…

WordPress.com is defo the way to go. I mean, you're limited in terms of customising it – like I can't make a fancy theme that's totally me, but meh, the standard themes have a bit of customisation, which is good enough to suffice me for the time being until I get my own web host and domain, and then I'll switch over to wordpress.org. I think I would need that and also 15 dollars for my own domain. That's 30 a year.Since you have your own web hosting, you didn't need to buy either, did you?
