The growing popularity of serviced apartments
January 31, 2009 by Janet7
Unlike hotels, Bangkok serviced apartments cater to residents’ “full living needs”. More and more, serviced residents are also seen as the logical accommodation choice for executives abroad. Her are some reasons why:
Cost benefits
The cost benefit offered by serviced apartments is one of the key reasons for their success. They offer significantly better value for money than Bangkok hotels with more spacious and flexible accommodation. Most people also tend to find Bangkok serviced residences more relaxing to stay in than hotels
Facilities
Most Bangkok serviced apartments have en-suite bathrooms and bedrooms, fully fitted kitchens and living rooms, broadband, Wi-Fi and cable TV. Most also have a swimming pool and fitness centre. In addition, many Bangkok serviced apartments also have concierges and in-house maintenance.
Convenience
As many serviced apartment are located in or near city centers, they are of the close to local restaurants and bars. Of course, if you would rather din in, you can always dine at the residence’s restaurant or prepare dinner in your apartment’s kitchen. In these ways, serviced residences offer true convenience and choice.
Flexibility
Aside from being more comfortable and cost effective than hotels, Bangkok serviced residences are also less restrictive than private property rentals. Private property rentals normally require the tenant to commit for a minimum period of time. However, the terms for renting, serviced apartments are much more flexible. Tenants can book a serviced apartment for as long or as short a period as they like. Furthermore, unlike with serviced apartments, renting private property means that you do not have access to a support network.
Dining
When you are staying in a hotel, you have to either eat out or in the hotel restaurant. As well as being tedious, this can also become very expensive. However, as Bangkok serviced apartments are equipped with fully fitted kitchens, residents can cook food for themselves. This is much cheaper than eating out all the time.
Laundry
Furthermore, if you are staying in a hotel and need to clean your clothes, you have to use the hotel laundry or find a local launderette. The first option is expensive and the second is time consuming. However, most Bangkok serviced apartments have washing machines and dryers. Therefore you can dump a load of washing into the machine before you leave for work in the morning and when you come home in the evening your clothes will be clean. This is a cheap and very easy way to do laundry.

Darn! A couple of months back we bought the Draytek Vigor 2910 for 190 Euros and that has only one USB connection on it! Do you know whether the Dovado supports the ZTE MF622 now?
If your cat loves dry food, great! Let it eat it! Its cheaper anyway! Plus It helps keep teeth cleaner. But no reason your cat can't eat both. Another option is those Tender Vittles or whatever they are called. Its a softer dry style. Comes in little pouches. My grandma gives her cat wet food in morning and evening just like you said you are doing, and leaves the dry food out all the time as snack whenever she needs it. Plus If you were ever unable to get home at your normal time, your cat would atleast have that to eat till you make it back home. I advise both. PLus if you are worried about health then buy a better brand of food. It will have better nuitriants. Plus that will also give your cat softer shinier fur too.
I believe they have that. I do know when I ordered cable internet from them, they said it included basic channels, aka local channels. Comcast is just too pricey regardless. You're gonna be paying them way too much for fricken anything. Even downgrading my service I was paying $100 for crappy cable (100 channels) and crappy internet (2 mbps). Anyway, I can't get their crappy website to load, but I'd expect to pay at LEAST $30. You're probably better off buying a digital converter box and getting your locals that way.
No one does
everyone uses MyHomeDVR.com.
We cancelled our cable TV a year ago and haven't missed it since then. With two little active boys and lots of toys to play with and playgrounds to visit, we don't even think twice about it. We still have the occasional DVD movie and some videos on YouTube (mostly music). For the adults in the house, we watch very selected TV shows on the computer.
Our friends wonder how we live without cable TV. We wonder why they still do. Enjoy your free time!

Mr Daisy forced me to quit smoking back in the 80s, convincing me we could not afford THAT, as well as cable TV. True at the time… and no contest there, I was a news/politics junkie then as now.
But wow, I see the costs of tobacco have gone up even MORE than cable TV!!!!

Well, shepherd, you make some good points. But the current model isn't really all that cheap. These WH reporters make a 6 figure income. Print journos make in the 100k to 150k per annum, and the tv guys at least triple that.
.
People blame the advent of cable tv, and maybe that is part of it, but that doesn't explain the print journos. Maybe cable tv can be blamed for the general decline of quality political journalism, but I don't think that explains the difference in the way Repubs are reported versus Dems. Sure, most of these journos suck, by why don't they suck equally across political parties?
.
Correlation does not equal causation!
If, as this article says,
“The researchers find an overall rise in both cable-TV access and autism, but autism diagnoses rose more rapidly in counties where a high percentage of households received cable than in counties with a low percentage of cable-TV homes.”
it might be worth considering that high-cable countries are also countries where more people can afford cable TV. More people can *also* afford taking their kids to psychiatrists for an autism diagnosis.
I don't mean to stick up for television, but this correlation=causation logic bothers me . . . Note – no psychologists were involved with the Slate study.
Now I have to go watch VH-1.

New post: The Efficiency of Cable TV Service
iONiUM writes with a CNET article outlining the next step in Microsoft’s plans for cable television, which he says "seems like yet another step forward in killing traditional cable companies." From the article: "[Microsoft] announced this morning that nearly 40 television content providers — including Comcast, Verizon, and HBO in the United States — will roll out programming over Xbox Live. The company also has deals lined up with providers in the U.K., Spain, Canada, Mexico, Germany, and Italy."
